What Are We Really Resting Our Heads On?
We spend roughly a third of our lives sleeping, yet most of us don’t give much thought to the pillow under our head every night.

When I evaluate a pillow, I look through the lens of over 25 years of working with bodies. Sleep position, spinal alignment, airway clearance, temperature regulation, and how materials change throughout the night all matter. There isn’t one simple answer because we all sleep differently—as side sleepers, back sleepers, stomach sleepers, or dynamic combination sleepers.

Over the years, I’ve observed critical flaws in standard market options:

  • Down & Feathers: Initial plushness that collapses, shifting support and tilting the airway mid-sleep.

  • Cheap Synthetic Fill: Quick breakdown that leaves pillows flat, masking lost cervical curves.

  • Memory Foam: Heat retention, VOC off-gassing, and a conforming structure that reinforces poor posture.

What do we actually need? Comfort, responsive support, alignment, and a design that lets us sleep without constant fluffing. These exact criteria led me to develop the Cradle Wave Pillow.

(In our upcoming posts, we’ll break down each pillow material in depth—starting with why feather pillows might be ruining your sleep alignment.)
